Pakistan national cricket team Files Complaint Over Controversial DRS in ODI vs Bangladesh national cricket team
Pakistan files an official complaint to the referee: Following their defeat in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh, Pakistan has filed a formal complaint with the match referee. Pakistan alleges that Bangladesh took an LBW review after watching the on-screen replay, costing them the match.
Pakistan has lodged a formal complaint against the match referee, Niyamura Rashid, after losing the third and final ODI to Bangladesh in Dhaka on Sunday. According to the team management, Bangladesh used the review option to check the LBW decision, which they claimed should not have been allowed by the umpire, Kumar Dharmasena. They claimed that Bangladesh used the review option after viewing the replay of the LBW decision on the screen.
According to ESPNcricinfo, this review put Bangladesh on the verge of victory. Before this ball was bowled, Pakistan needed 12 runs from two balls to win. Rishad Hussain threw the ball in the air towards the leg stump, and it veered away from Shaheen Afridi and towards the leg side. Umpire Dharmasena declared it wide. However, after a brief discussion, Bangladesh reviewed the LBW decision, even though it was clear that the ball was not near Afridi's feet or any part of his body.
According to the rules, the decision to take a review must be made before any replays are shown on the big screen. Pakistan is now arguing that the rules were not followed because the replays were shown on the screen, which influenced Bangladesh's decision.
