Share of women investors in mutual funds increased, AMFI said- investors are turning towards funds
Mutual Fund: In the AMFI report released by SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, it has been said that 50 per cent of women investors fall in the age group of 25-44. This figure is 45 per cent of the total group of individual investors.
The share of women investors in mutual funds increased from 15% in March 2017 to about 21% in December 2023. According to the latest data from the industry body Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi), the pace of increase in the number of women was faster in remote areas than in urban centres. With this, the total assets under management (AUM) in mutual funds crossed Rs 54 lakh crore in February this year. A large number of investors are turning to mutual funds to save and increase earnings.
According to the AMFI report, which was made public by SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, 50% of female investors are between the ages of 25 and 44. This amount represents 45% of all individual investors.
At 40%, Goa has the largest proportion of women working in the mutual fund sector. With 30%, the northeastern states come in second. In addition, there are now more female mutual fund distributors than ever before. They had grown to 42,000 in number by December 2023.
