Sanjay Kapoor's wife Priya will be non-executive director; Sona Comstar shareholders approve
Sona Comstar: Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited (Sona Comstar) has said in a regulatory filing that the shareholders have approved the appointment of Priya, wife of former chairman Sanjay Kapoor, as non-executive director at the annual general meeting on July 25.
The shareholders of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited, i.e., Sona Comstar, the vehicle parts manufacturing company, have okayed Priya Sachdev Kapoor to be appointed as a non-executive director by a required majority.
Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited (Sona Comstar) said in a regulatory filing that the shareholders approved the appointment of Priya, wife of former chairman Sanjay Kapoor, at the annual general meeting on July 25.
Priya has been made an additional director as a non-executive director from June 23, 2025. Sona Comstar chairperson Sanjay Kapoor passed away on June 12 while playing polo in London. Following his demise, the company's board had unanimously appointed Jeffrey Mark Overly as chairman with effect from June 23, 2025.
Sanjay's mother and former Sona Group chairperson Rani Kapoor, in a letter to the board on July 24, had alleged that while the family was mourning Sanjay's death last month, some people chose it as an opportune moment to usurp control and usurp the family legacy.
