Sameer Rizvi gets big responsibility before IPL 2025, made captain of Rest of India
U23 Irani Cup: Sameer Rizvi has beaten Mumbai Under-23 captain Vedant Murkar in the race for the captaincy of the Rest of India with his brilliant performance.

Young cricketer Sameer Rizvi has been given a big responsibility before IPL 2025. In fact, the 21-year-old young player has been made captain of the Under-23 Rest of India team to be contested from March 9 to 12 in Mohali. Sameer Rizvi will captain the Rest of India team against Colonel CK Naidu (U-23) champion Punjab.
With his brilliant performance, Sameer Rizvi has overtaken Mumbai Under-23 captain Vedant Murkar in the captaincy contest. Sameer Rizvi has played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Uttar Pradesh senior team in IPL. Rizvi will be playing for Delhi Capitals in the current IPL season.
Meanwhile, Karnataka's McNeil HN has been made vice-captain to the Rest of India team, who has scored more than 1000 runs. Youngsters like left-arm spinner Vicky Ostwal, Delhi's Raunak Vaghela, and Railways' Ashok Sharma have also been included in the squad.
The BCCI has introduced a youth first-class match between the Under-23 national champions and the players who performed well in the CK Nayudu tournament. The Under-23 Irani Cup will be played for the first time.
