PCB Freezes PSL Broadcast in India Amid T20 World Cup Controversy
PCB Withholds PSL 11 Broadcast Rights in India: After boycotting matches against India in the 2026 T20 World Cup, the PCB has dealt another blow to India. The board has suspended broadcast rights for the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the Indian market.
A dispute between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the T20 World Cup is still an ongoing issue. The Pakistani government has decided to boycott matches against India in the T20 World Cup. On the other hand, the PCB has decided to suspend broadcast rights for the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in India for the 11th season. However, they are still selling international broadcast rights for the PSL. This means that Indian cricket fans cannot view matches in the PSL.
The PSL 2026 will start from the 26th of March, shortly after the T20 World Cup, and will continue until the 3rd of May. The auction of the players will take place on the 11th of February. Wally Technologies emerged as the highest bidder, exceeding the PCB's reserve price, and has been awarded the league's global media rights, excluding India, on a one-year agreement.
Last season, FanCode and Sony Sports Network held the media rights to broadcast PSL matches in India. However, following the Pahalgam terrorist attack in April, midway through the tournament, both platforms suspended coverage and removed PSL-related content from their platforms.

This deal with Wally Technologies represents a significant increase of 149 percent compared to the previous season, reflecting the PSL's growing brand value and international recognition. Commenting on the development, PSL CEO Salman Naseer said, "We are very pleased with the outcome of the sale of international media rights."
He further added, "We are grateful to Wali Technologies for setting new benchmarks. The consistent increase in the value of international media rights reflects the collective efforts of the franchises, players, and partners who have helped establish the PSL as a globally recognized cricketing property."
Wali Technologies CEO Muhammad Ahsan Tahir also spoke about acquiring the league's digital media rights. He said, "This is a victory for every Pakistani who believes in Made in Pakistan technology. This is just the beginning of our PSL journey. We have big plans and look forward to sharing what's to come."
