The Kangaroos have registered a spectacular victory in the second and final match of the two-Test series between Australia and New Zealand. In the Christchurch Test, Australia defeated host New Zealand by 3 wickets to sweep the series 2-0. New Zealand had set a target of 279 runs for Australia in Christchurch. Alex Carey scored an unbeaten 98 runs and Pat Cummins scored an unbeaten 32 runs and achieved the target with 3 wickets remaining. In this run chase, Mitchell Marsh played an important inning of 80 runs.

Upon winning the toss, Australia asked New Zealand to bat first. Although they had a respectable start in the first innings, New Zealand's entire team collapsed for just 162 runs after the first wicket fell at 47. Not a single New Zealand batsman was able to score fifty runs. Josh Hazlewood claimed five wickets for Australia, while Mitchell Starc claimed three.

Australia's first innings was off to a terrible start. Despite this, the Kangaroo team scored 256 runs in the opening inning to take a 94-run lead.
