New Telecom Act: In case of emergency, complete control of the telecom service will rest with the government
New Telecom Act: The new Telecommunication Act 2023 is coming into force from June 26, i.e. today. According to the Gazette notification, the central government has fixed the date of June 26, 2024, on which the provisions of many sections 1 2 10 to 30 42 to 44 46 47 50 to 58 61, and 62 of this new act will come into force. With the new act, the government will get new power.
The new law, the Telecommunication Act 2023, is coming into force from June 26, 2024, i.e., today. The new law shall repeal the existing legislative framework like the Indian Telegraph Act of 1885 and the Indian Wireless Telegraph Act of 1933, in view of the attainment of technical advancement in the telecom sector and technology.
According to the Gazette notification, some provisions, including sections 1, 2, 10, and 30 of the new Telecom Act, would come into effect from June 26.
It has fixed June 26, 2024, as the date on which the provisions of many Sections 1, 2, 10-30, 42-44, 46, 47, 50-58, 61, and 62 of this new Act shall come into force.
