No Consensus After Rahul Gandhi-Kiren Rijiju Talks on Delimitation and Parliament Agenda

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also present during the Parliamentary Affairs Minister's 50-minute meeting with the Leader of the Opposition. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal and Deputy Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi joined in shortly after. Venugopal stated that Rijiju had brought the government's agenda.

According to Venugopal, who was present at the meeting, they also discussed the Delimitation Bill, but their stance is clear: the entire opposition voted against it in the Lok Sabha, and our stance has not changed. Our demands and issues are clear: a discussion on the offering theft scam and Home Minister Amit Shah's statement in Parliament regarding the attack on students.

It is reported that when Rijiju proposed a statement from the Home Minister during the discussion on the FCRA bill, the Congress leadership agreed to consult with all opposition parties and respond. In light of this, a meeting between Kiren Rijiju and Rahul Gandhi is expected on Friday as well. Venugopal clearly stated that during the meeting, Rijiju did not propose extending the current monsoon session or calling a special session.

This is the second time Kiren Rijiju has met Rahul Gandhi in the last 10 days. According to sources, prior to Wednesday's meeting, Kiren Rijiju also spoke with Rahul Gandhi on the phone on Tuesday night. Following Rijiju's meeting with the Leader of the Opposition, Congress sources stated that Rahul will discuss the government's intentions regarding the FCRA and the Delimitation Bill at a meeting of opposition leaders scheduled for Thursday morning.

The Congress leadership will also discuss a joint strategy with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and leaders of some other key opposition parties. Informal communication has also been initiated with the DMK, which has left the NDA.

Congress says that MK Stalin, who called the Delimitation Bill a "black law" in April, is unlikely to support it. The opposition camp will try to woo the DMK through Stalin's allies, the Samajwadi Party, the Left, and the Trinamool Congress.

Meanwhile, Rijiju is also planning to meet with other opposition leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav. Sources also said that Rijiju discussed reintroducing the Women's Reservation Bill, but the Congress leader did not give him any assurances on this matter.
