Strengthened Surveillance Measures

Security around the temple has been notably reinforced, with 241 new CCTV cameras installed alongside facial-recognition cameras deployed at 70 locations across the temple zone. Police personnel will maintain intensive vigil throughout the temple area and its surrounding streets, reflecting the heightened security considerations that come with managing an event expected to draw such large crowds into a concentrated urban space.

Transport Arrangements for Visiting Devotees

To accommodate devotees travelling from other districts, temporary bus stands have been established at five locations, with additional special buses being operated to handle the increased transport demand. Free parking will also be made available at 55 locations across the city, an arrangement aimed at easing congestion and providing convenient access points for visitors arriving by private vehicle.

Sanitation and Basic Amenities

The civic body and temple administration have arranged for continuous drinking-water supply, along with a combination of permanent and mobile toilets, supported by sanitation workers operating in shifts to maintain cleanliness throughout the event given the scale of footfall expected.

Protecting Devotees From the Heat

With intense heat anticipated during the morning hours, coconut-fibre mats will be laid along major streets specifically to protect devotees from hot surfaces underfoot, a practical measure addressing the physical discomfort that large numbers of pilgrims, many walking significant distances, are likely to face during the event.

Medical Preparedness for Emergencies

Special medical camps equipped with Advanced Life Support facilities will operate inside the temple, on its rooftop, and in the surrounding areas. Around 70 doctors, 108 ambulances and mobile medical teams will remain on standby throughout the event to handle any emergencies that may arise, reflecting the scale of medical preparedness typically required for religious gatherings of this magnitude, where large crowds combined with heat and physical exertion can pose health risks to attendees.

Fire Safety and Power Continuity

Fire and Rescue Services personnel, along with water tankers and rescue equipment, will be deployed at strategic locations around the temple complex. To prevent any disruption to power supply during the event, alternative electricity connections and generators have also been arranged, ensuring that critical infrastructure, including lighting, medical facilities and the control room, continues functioning without interruption.

Food Safety Checks for Annadhanam

Food Safety Department teams have been inspecting food prepared for the 'annadhanam', the traditional community meal offering, by authorised organisations, ensuring that the food served to devotees during the event meets required safety and hygiene standards given the scale at which it will be distributed.

Final Review and Coordination

The final preparations were reviewed at a meeting chaired by special monitoring officers K. Veera Raghava Rao, P. Madhusudhan Reddy and C. Pazhani. HR&CE Commissioner T.G. Vinay and Madurai Collector Nishant Krishna were among those present at the review. The officers subsequently inspected the temple, security points and the control room, directing all departments to work in close coordination so that devotees could have darshan without inconvenience during Thursday's major temple consecration ceremony.
