Food Safety Department Raids Bengaluru Hotels, Destroys Expired Meat and Vegetables
From Taj to Radisson Blu: The Food Safety Department raided 5-star hotels in Bengaluru, finding expired milk, rotten meat, and mold-infested vegetables. The raids revealed widespread unsanitary conditions and violations of FSSAI regulations at renowned hotels like the Taj Yashwantpur and Shangri-La.
Important news has emerged from Karnataka. The Food Safety and Drug Administration launched a campaign where they highlighted some deficiencies in large hotel chains. Not only were small stalls under observation, but even 5-star hotels such as Taj Yashwantpur and Shangri-La of Bengaluru were observed to have negligence in food matters.
Some major issues have been brought up; for instance, there was an observation of expired milk, spoiled meat and vegetables with mold. A lot of questions are raised regarding these hotels.
According to reports, the department has formed 30 special teams who conducted raids in 26 major 3-star and 5-star hotels in the city region of Bengaluru. They took food samples of 35 food products which include chicken, mutton, fish, oil, milk, spices, cheese and sauces and subjected them to a laboratory test. Legal steps will be taken further on basis of the test results.
