Bengal Storm: Home Minister talks with CM of storm-affected states, assures all possible help

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Assam and Manipur given the widespread damage caused in the three states due to the severe storm. Shah assured all possible central help to the three Chief Ministers. He also appealed to BJP workers to help the affected people.

Shah said in a post on social media that he is extremely concerned about the widespread damage caused in West Bengal, Assam and Manipur due to the storm. Spoke to Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on the phone and got information about the situation. I assured him of all possible help. He said that I express my deep condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The strong storm that pounded Jalpaiguri and the surrounding areas of West Bengal caused more than three hundred injuries and five fatalities. Both Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the impacted areas, assessed the situation, and spoke with locals. Additionally, Dr CV Anand Bose, the state governor, visited the storm-affected areas. Subhendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition and a senior BJP leader, also paid visits to the affected areas.
