Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the Lok Sabha on Thursday that the 17-km Deshpran-Nandigram new rail line project was pending due to non-cooperation from the Bengal government and now its work can be started in April 2023. Vaishnav said in a written reply to a question by Trinamool Congress MP Dibyendu Adhikari that the Deshpran-Nandigram new line project was approved in 2009-10. The project was pending due to lack of support from the state government. Keeping in mind the needs of the area, its work has been started again in April, 2023.
