Manjunath, Chaliha and Jolly-Gopichand in quarterfinals of Thailand Masters

Thailand Open 2024: Mithun Manjunath defeated Srikanth 21-9, 13-21, 21-17 in 54 minutes. In the women's category, Ashmita defeated Yu Po Pai of Taiwan 21-12, 15-21, 21-17. Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated Tanisha Cresto and Ashwini Ponnappa 21-15, 24-22.

Manjunath, Chaliha and Jolly-Gopichand in quarterfinals of Thailand Masters

At the Thailand Masters 2024 badminton tournament, India's Mithun Manjunath defeated fellow countryman and star shuttler Kidambi Srikanth in the men's singles. Ashmita Chaliha and Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand advanced to the quarterfinals in the women's singles and doubles, respectively. Kidambi Srikanth, ranked 24, lost to Mithun Manjunath, ranked 63, in a match that lasted 54 minutes. The scores were 21-9, 13-21, and 21-17.

In his last-eight match, Mithun Manjunath will take on Mark Caljouw, a Dutch player. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, two junior Indian players, played exceptionally well and defeated Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto 21-15, 24-22 to advance to the quarterfinals. Treesa and Gayatri's opponents will play the fourth-seeded Indonesian team, consisting of Fabriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Amalia Kaya Pratiwi, in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Ashmita Chaliha kept up the Indian challenge by defeating Taipei shuttler Pai Yu Po 21-12, 15-21, 21-17 in the women's singles. To make the semi-finals, Chaliha will have to defeat world number 44 Aster Nurumi Tri Wardoyo of Indonesia. Earlier in the day, Malvika Bansod lost to eighth seed Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand 24-22, 21-7.
