About 63% of workers believe that the new labor laws will make it easier for contract, migrant, and gig workers to access social security schemes. Until now, these categories were unable to fully benefit from these schemes. Separate provisions have been added for them in the new labor code, raising hopes for a protective shield for workers in the unorganized sector.

76 percent of employers surveyed said the new labor laws would bring workforce flexibility, essential for business. 64 percent believed a fixed-term employment model would be suitable for their business. 73 percent said compliance would be easier and reduce legal complexities in the long run. This is also expected to provide relief to the industry.

About 66 percent of workers agreed that the new rules would provide better protection to women employees. Mandatory safety and transportation provisions would make workplaces safer. 60 percent of workers said leave regulations would also improve, helping to balance work and personal life. It is also said that this would strengthen the goal of increasing female participation.

The central government has already notified all four labor laws. Suggestions have been sought on the draft rules. The government plans to fully implement them by April 1, 2026. Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the aim of these reforms is to promote social security, decent work and inclusive growth for all.
