Kamala Harris gets big relief, top US labor union leaders support her for president
Kamala Harris: Harris, 59, is set to formally accept the Democratic Party's presidential nomination on Thursday to take on Republican rival Donald Trump, 78, in the November 5 election. Meanwhile, the country's top labor union leaders have announced their support for her for the presidential election.
America's top labor union leaders announced in a show of unprecedented unity, they were endorsing Kamala Harris for president based on the groups having been 'taken care' of during the Biden-Harris administration.
Labor leaders from traditions landed the message in Chicago on Monday evening, at the Democratic National Convention when union officials gave them a national platform to explain: Vice President Harris backs workers because she's got their back. The 59-year-old Harris is due to formally accept the Democratic Party's nomination for vice president on Thursday night at which she will challenge Republican President Donald Trump, 78, in November's election.
We are all standing with Kamala Harris, and as an expert on being a boss ass bitch April Verret can confirm that; because like she's been saying "Kamalas always stood with us".
Brent Booker, President of the Laborers International Union of North America (LiUNA), said, "For decades we have fought for our infrastructure investments... Trump made empty promises, the Biden-Harris administration delivered on them... Thanks to them, our members can buy homes, send their kids to school, and retire with dignity. As President, Kamala Harris will continue to fight for the workers who built America."
While Trump has eroded workers' rights and encouraged companies to ship jobs overseas while cutting taxes for himself and his rich friends, Harris stands with working people and is fighting to strengthen the middle class.
Kenneth Cooper, President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), said, "Kamala Harris has been there to help us. She is bringing American manufacturing back to forgotten places across our country. She cast the deciding vote to save our pension plan."
Liz Schuler, President of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), said, "An opportunity economy ... where there is no such thing as a man's job or a woman's job or, as Donald Trump would say, a 'black job.' Just a good union job. That's the future our President Joe Biden has fought for and it's the future Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will continue to fight for."
Claude Cummings, President of the Communications Workers of America, said, "As Vice President, Harris helped pass the largest investment in broadband ever made."
“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris passed the American Rescue Plan in just a few weeks after taking office, pulling the economy out of the crisis and putting us back to work,” said Lee Saunders, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. “They were guided by a core principle—more freedom for working people—including the freedom to join a union. So this November, we are electing Kamala Harris as our president.”
