Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal gets medical bail, relief from Bombay High Court in money laundering case

The Bombay High Court on Monday granted medical bail to the founder of Jet Airways Naresh Goyal, accused in the money laundering case. A single bench of Justice NJ Jamdar had granted interim bail to Goyal on medical grounds in May this year.
Justice Jamadar on Monday made the interim order permanent. Goyal (75) is suffering from cancer and has sought bail to get treatment. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had opposed his plea and said he could be admitted to a hospital of his choice and get treatment while in custody.
In May, the high court had granted interim bail to Goyal for a period of two months, which was later extended by four weeks and then two months. The ED had arrested Goyal in September 2023 on charges that he had indulged in money laundering and siphoned off a loan of Rs 538.62 crore given to Jet Airways by Canara Bank.
His wife Anita Goyal was arrested when the ED filed a chargesheet in the case in November 2023. A special court had granted her bail the same day considering her age and medical condition. She died on May 16 this year.
