Instagram Introduces ‘Watch History’ to Let Users Revisit Watched Reels
Instagram: Instagram has launched a new Watch History feature, allowing users to rewatch previously viewed reels if they missed them. Learn how this feature works, how it's better than TikTok, and what new experiences users will gain.
It usually occurs that after we have seen a good reel, we are not able to locate it again. This is because we scroll through content quite fast on social media apps and our feeds keep changing. In such a case, the social media app Instagram has introduced a feature which all users have been waiting for. Now, users will be able to watch easily reels they earlier watched but did not save. This new feature, known as "Watch History," has been officially rolled out.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri said that this feature is specifically for users who are unable to find a reel later. He explained, “If you watched a Reel and can't find it later, you can now easily find it using the 'Watch History' feature. Simply go to your 'Profile' and open 'Settings', then go to 'Watch History' under 'Your Activity', and you'll find all the Reels you've watched.”
Open the Instagram app and go to your profile. Go to Settings, select 'Your Activity', and then click on 'Watch History'. You'll now see a list of all your viewed Reels. Users can filter Reels by date, week, or month. If you want to remove a video from your history, it can be deleted.
While this feature already exists on TikTok, Instagram has made it more feature-rich and flexible. Users can sort Reels not only by date but also in chronological or reverse chronological order. Additionally, Reels can also be searched by creator name.
Many users have been demanding this feature for a long time. Previously, if a Reel was accidentally missed, users had to download the app's data and search for it. This was a lengthy and difficult process. The new Watch History feature has now simplified this process, making it easier than ever for users to access their favorite content.
Instagram has released several updates in recent months to further enhance Reels. For example, the Reel Stories feature allows creators to create a series by combining multiple Reels. Picture-in-Picture mode allows users to use other apps while watching videos. These updates clearly indicate that Meta now aims to make Instagram a strong alternative to TikTok.
