Infosys again reports layoff of more than 40 employees, 350 people were fired last month
Infosys: Software giant Infosys on Wednesday fired at least 30 to 45 trainees from its Mysore branch. This decision comes shortly after the company fired about 350 trainees in February. Let's know about this in detail.
On Wednesday, Software giant Infosys fired at least 30 to 45 trainees from its Mysore branch. According to reports, these trainees had allegedly failed to meet the company's internal evaluation parameters. The trainees sacked were from the Foundation Skills Training Program and were given sufficient opportunities for additional preparation, like mock examinations and doubt-clearing sessions. However, despite all these, they could not meet the qualifying parameters, due to which they were removed.
The layoffs come shortly after the company laid off around 350 trainees in February, Amar Ujala sources said. These trainees had faced significant delays in recruitment, having to wait for more than 2.5 years before being hired. The fresh layoffs have raised concerns about the company's training and assessment practices, particularly its entry-level process.
Infosys, through its rigorous training programs, spends traditionally heavily on the on-boarding and skill development of the newly joined employees. However, the internal assessments have tightened in the last few months. And the new layoffs have occurred for the same reason. The company has yet to make any formal announcement on the new layoffs.
