Indian shooting team leaves for Paris to participate in Paralympics, Narwal hopes to do better
Paralympics: A 10-member shooting team, including rifle shooters Avni Lekhara, Mona Agarwal, and pistol shooter Manish Narwal, will challenge in the shooting events to be held in Chateau near Paris from August 30.
The Indian shooting contingent left on Monday for Paris to take part in the Paralympics. A 10-member strong shooting team comprising rifle shooters Avni Lekhara and Mona Agarwal along with pistol shooter Manish Narwal will test skills in the shooting events scheduled in Chateau near Paris from Aug 30. Expressing Confidence about the Indian shooting team crossing the medal tally at the Paralympics held in Tokyo, Narwal said on Saturday that the team was in good shape after rigorous practice.
India won two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals at the Tokyo Paralympics. Narwal, who won the gold medal in 50m pistol (SH1) in Tokyo, said before the team left, "Our preparations are good and we are looking forward to performing our best in Paris. Our aim is to surpass our previous performance and bring more medals home."
Narwal will feature in the 10m air pistol at the Paris Games. Other than Narwal, Avni, and Mona, the rest of the team includes Amir Ahmed Bhat, Rudransh Khandelwal, Rubina Francis, Swaroop Unhalkar, Siddharth Babu, Sriharsh Devradi and Nihal Singh. In these games, India will have maximum hopes of a medal from Avni. Who became India's first female shooter to win two medals in the last Games. This Jaipur-based shooter won gold medals in the 10m Air Rifle and the 50m Rifle three position SH1 at the Tokyo Paralympics. The Indian Paralympic Committee expects a haul of more than 25 medals from these games. Shooting is likely to be one of India's biggest contributors to the overall performance.
