The Indian women's team made history by amassing 603 runs in the first innings of the first test match between India and South Africa in Chennai, thanks to Shefali Verma's explosive double century and Smriti Mandhana's century. This marks the first time in the history of women's test cricket that a team has scored 600 runs in an innings. The Indian side won the toss and batted first, scoring 525 runs on the first day while losing four wickets. Today, on the second day of the test, Team India declared the innings after adding 78 more runs and amassing 603 runs for the cost of six wickets.

The Indian team declared the innings at 603 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 115.1 overs. For India, Shefali Verma played a stormy innings of 205 runs in 197 balls while Smriti Mandhana played an innings of 149 runs in 161 balls. At the same time, Jemima Rodrigues scored 55, Harmanpreet Kaur scored 69 runs and Richa Ghosh scored 86 runs.

The South African women's team has scored 29 runs in 6 overs without losing any wickets till lunch on the second day. Laura Wolvaardt is playing after scoring 17 runs and Anneke Bosch is playing after scoring 12 runs.
