India Canada Row: Rajya Sabha member from Punjab Vikramjit Sahney met Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has been requested to restart visa service for people of Indian origin in Canada. Rajya Sabha member Vikramjit Sahney said that many immigrants in Canada do not have an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card. Canadian Indian immigrants are facing problems due to not getting visas.

A diplomatic row had erupted after Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau alleged the role of Indian agents in the murder of Khalistan supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Rejecting the allegation, India had in September banned visa services in Canada until further orders.
Rajya Sabha member Vikramjit Sahney said that many immigrants in Canada do not have an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card.
They have been receiving requests from Indian expatriates, especially Punjabis, living in Canada regarding their inability to obtain a visa to India despite family problems. Every second household in Punjab has some member in Canada. Canadian Indian immigrants are facing problems due to not getting visas.
