ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026: India’s 17-Match ICC Winning Streak Ends

On Sunday, Team India lost the match by 76 runs against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2026. This is the first time that the Indian team is losing a match in an ICC tournament since the 2023 ODI World Cup. In this match, the team was all out for just 111 runs. This is Team India's third-lowest total in this tournament. Previously, in the 2016 T20 World Cup, India was bowled out for 74 runs against New Zealand. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, India scored 110 runs against New Zealand.

This is India's first defeat in a multi-nation T20 tournament in the last three years. Previously, India lost the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup to England. Since then, Team India has played a total of 23 matches, winning 21, losing one, and losing one. India lost the 2023 World Cup final against Australia on the same ground. This is India's first defeat in 18 matches across all formats of ICC events since that match.
