Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant said in comparison with MS Dhoni that his focus is on carving his legacy. He said, "This is the home ground of Chennai Super Kings. Mahi bhai has played a lot of cricket here. But, for me, as I have said earlier, I want to be myself. I don't focus on what is being said or what is happening around me. I am keeping things simple and focusing on giving my best. The atmosphere here was amazing and I really enjoyed it."
Rishabh Pant scored a century in India's second innings on the third day of the match. He also got full support from Shubman Gill. Both of them added 167 runs for the fourth wicket. Pant said, "I played according to the situation. Bangladesh started with spinners on the third day, but I do not play in a pre-determined way. I knew that we had lost three wickets, so I was not taking much risk. The pitch was very good for batting. In such a situation, I wanted to take maximum advantage of it and score a century."
Pant said, "When we went for lunch, there was talk about declaring the innings. Rohit Sharma told us that he would give us an hour after the break and we could score as much as possible. I thought I could also reach 150."
