Government order states that children of central employees' education allowance will increase by 25% if DA is increased by 50%
Government Employees: Citing a 2018 guideline, the Personnel Ministry said that the order provides that whenever the dearness allowance in the revised pay increases by 50 percent, the limit of children's education allowance and hostel subsidy will naturally increase by 25 percent.
The educational allowance for children and the employee hostel subsidy have been revised by the Centre. According to an order from the Personnel Ministry, these changes will take effect on January 1, 2024.
The increase in dearness allowance effective January 1, 2024, prompted the taking of this action. According to the Personnel Ministry, which cited a 2018 guideline, the order stipulates that the maximum amount for children's education allowance and hostel subsidy will automatically increase by 25% whenever the dearness allowance in the revised pay increases by 50%.
The ministry said that given the increase in the dearness allowance of central employees, information is being sought about the amount of children's education allowance and hostel subsidy.
The latest order of the Personnel Ministry states that the amount of children's education allowance, irrespective of actual expenses incurred by the government employees, will be Rs 2,812.5 per month and hostel subsidy will be Rs 8,437.5 per month. Additionally, Children's Education Allowance for disabled children of Government employees will be double the normal rates i.e. Rs 5,625 per month (fixed).
