Former Chief Selector said - BCCI's decision to make domestic cricket compulsory for every player is a great decision
Former Chief Selector Chetan Sharma said that BCCI's decision to make domestic cricket compulsory for every player is a great decision. Our job is to play cricket and we should not refuse to play cricket anywhere it is ideal to get the opportunity to play competitively.
Former Chief Selector Chetan Sharma hailed this decision of BCCI, making it compulsory for every player to play domestic cricket. Hailed by many as an ideal first-class tournament, the Duleep Trophy has been running on the Indian domestic calendar since 1961/62 with the Central Board of Control for Cricket in India placing a big emphasis on senior Indian cricket players' participation in it. It is scheduled to start on September 5 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
It is a very, very good decision of the BCCI, our job is to play cricket and we should not say that we are not going to play at this or that place. Fantastic opportunity to get to play some competitive cricket. The decision of BCCI to stage all the Duleep Trophy matches at one venue is brilliant as we would have the best 50-60 players of India in one place," Chetan Sharma told IANS.
Compared to its original avatar as a regional competition, it represents six zones: North, South, East, West, Central, and North-East. This time, only four teams would be competing. Since the second round of matches would fall on the home Test series starting against Bangladesh on September 19, players selected for the Test series would be interchanged in the Duleep Trophy.
Chetan further added that no match is easy and India should look to register an emphatic win against Bangladesh. International cricket is never easy, whatever the opponent is and you always have to be serious. India will prepare differently for Bangladesh and Australia. We are also in the middle of the World Test Championship, so we have to make sure we register an emphatic win over Bangladesh.
