DGFT: 30,000 tonnes of non-Basmati white rice will be exported from India to Tanzania, government gives permission
DGFT: The export of non-Basmati white rice was banned from July 20, 2023, to boost domestic supply. On special request, export exemptions are granted by the government to some countries to meet food safety requirements. In this context, permission has been given to export rice to Tanzania.
The government has allowed the export of 30,000 tonnes of non-Basmati white rice to Tanzania and 80,000 tonnes of broken rice to Djibouti and Guinea Bissau. Exports are allowed through National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.
To increase domestic supply, the export of non-Basmati white rice was outlawed on July 20, 2023. The government will exempt some countries from rice export duties upon special request to help them meet food security requirements.
