Case registered against former NBEMS officer, CBI is investigating

CBI has registered a case against Bipin Batra for illegally obtaining the post of Additional Director of the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). NBEMS is the regulatory body for postgraduate medical examinations. It has set the standards for postgraduate examination in modern medicine.
Officials said the action was initiated on a complaint by NBEMS. It alleged that Batra managed to reach and hold the top post illegally in a short period of seven years despite being ineligible for initial appointment and gradual promotion.
According to officials, there is no doubt that such a situation could not have arisen without massive abuse of powers by several individuals within NBEMS. This has caused serious damage to the organization and its credibility.
