Canada's relations deteriorate due to Khalistani raga, if India takes a step back, it will cause loss of billions of dollars
India Canada Row: According to the 2021 census, about 14 lakh people of Indian origin are living in Canada. This is 3.7 percent of the total population of Canada. About 7 lakh population are Sikhs. The Sikh population has a good influence on Canadian politics. For this reason, Justin Trudeau's government is giving protection to the supporters of Khalistan.
Diplomatic relations between India and Canada began in 1947. In this way, the relations between India and Canada are 76 years old. However, government protection for Khalistanis is not a new thing in Canada. In 1984, terrorists demanding Khalistan had bombed an Air India flight. Because of this, there was a period of tension in the relations between the two countries. The Canadian government at that time was also giving protection to Khalistani terrorists. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Canada in 2015, relations between the two countries reached the level of strategic partnership. Due to the growing power of China, Canada also focused on strengthening relations with India. Canada may have to suffer a lot due to deteriorating relations with India because considering India's stature in the current world order, its Western allies will also hesitate to speak against India. Canada may also have to pay a heavy price on the economic front.

According to data from Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), a total of 3,19,000 Indians were living with valid study visas in 2022. A total of 5 lakh international students came to Canada in 2022, out of which 2,26,450 students were from India. That means the share of Indians in the total international students was about 41 percent. If relations between Canada and India worsen and the government bans Indian students from going to Canada, it will cause a huge loss to the Canadian economy. International students bring $30 billion to the Canadian economy every year. Obviously, Indian students have a big contribution to this.
