People want to celebrate Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath with their families. Many people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar relocate to other states for employment. They also attempt to celebrate major festivals such as Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath with their families in their home state. However, many people are unable to travel home because they cannot obtain train tickets during the holiday season.

To overcome this problem, Indian Railways has announced to run about 6,000 special trains. This will facilitate more than 1 crore passengers to go home on Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath. According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, additional general coaches have been added to 108 trains and 12,500 coaches have been approved to deal with the heavy rush during festivals.

Many train routes, especially trains going to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, are heavily crowded during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals. Vaishnav says that a total of 5,975 special trains have been notified so far for the festive season this year, which was 4,429 last year. He said, "This will facilitate more than one crore passengers to go home during the rush of Puja."
