Marginal increase in wholesale inflation, WPI rises to 2.38% from 2.31% in January

The wholesale price inflation rate i.e. wholesale inflation rate rose to 2.38 percent in February. It had been 2.31 percent in January. This has been mentioned in the government data released on Monday. According to government data released on Monday, the February 2025 positive inflation is primarily due to the increase in the price of the food products that are manufactured, food articles, other manufacturing, non-food articles textile manufacturing, etc. Economists had forecast wholesale price inflation at 2.36% in a survey.

Food inflation at the wholesale price dropped from 7.47% in January to 5.94% in February. The inflation of the primary articles decreased to 2.81% in February from 4.69% in January.

Meanwhile, wholesale fuel and electricity prices fell 0.71% in February, against the 2.78% decline in January. Prices of manufactured goods rose 2.86% in February, against the 2.51% rise in the previous month.
