The Indian women's cricket team played its first match at the Asian Games 2023 on Thursday. The quarter-final match was played between India and Malaysia in Hangzhou.
Malaysia won the toss and decided to bowl first, which proved to be completely wrong. Indian captain Smriti Mandhana (27) and Shafali Verma (67) gave the team a great start with a partnership of 57 runs.
Even after Mandhana's dismissal, Shafali Verma continued her stormy avatar. The right-handed female batsman scored 67 runs in just 39 balls with the help of four fours and five sixes. She made a partnership of 86 runs with Jemimah Rodriguez for the second wicket in just 47 balls.
