There have been many controversies in the history of the IPL, but the one between Virat Kohli and Naveen Ul Haq has caused a stir in Indian cricket. Gautam Gambhir, the Lucknow Super Giants' mentor at the time, also became involved in the controversy. This controversy occurred during the IPL-2023. When Naveen and Kohli had an argument on the pitch, Amit Mishra was batting alongside Naveen. Amit Mishra has now spoken extensively about Virat Kohli in relation to this controversy.

Amit Mishra was a part of Lucknow Super Giants at that time and Kohli was playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mishra told that this dispute happened in the reverse match. In the first match, Lucknow defeated RCB in a thrilling match. After this, Gambhir had indicated to the people of Bangalore to remain calm. Mishra said that Kohli was disappointed by this and when the second match took place in Lucknow, he thought of taking revenge.

Speaking on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube show, Amit Mishra said, "We thought that the matter was over, but it was not so for Kohli. He started abusing our players. He had no problem with Kyle Meyers but Kohli abused him too. Kohli abused Naveen even when he was bowling."

Amit Mishra said that if Kohli wanted, he could have let the matter go because he is a very big player, but he did not do so. Mishra said that there was no fight between him and Kohli during all this and he was just explaining to Kohli that Naveen is young, do not abuse him. He said, "When it was time to shake hands, he started abusing Naveen. Then Gambhir intervened and said that when the match is over, why are you starting again. I removed Gambhir, but Naveen came to the dressing room again and said that Kohli is abusing again."

Amit Mishra believes that after whatever happened between Kohli and Naveen, Naveen will not be able to respect Kohli. Amit Mishra also believes that a star player like Kohli abusing a young player does not set a good example.
