Alyssa Healy Calls Time on International Cricket, Test at WACA to Be Farewell
Alyssa Healy Retirement: Australia captain Alyssa Healy has announced her retirement from all forms of cricket. She announced that she will retire from all formats of cricket after the multi-format series against India in February.
When the T20 World Cup is just months away, the news of the sudden retirement of the captain of the Australian cricket team, Alyssa Healy, from all formats of cricket has come as a shock to the cricketing fraternity. Healy made the announcement today, January 13, that she will be retiring from all formats of cricket after the multi-format series against India. Her final match will be the Test match at the WACA Grounds in Perth, which will start from March 6.
The 35-year-old Healy’s retirement in the shortest format comes into effect immediately. She will not participate in the three T20 Internationals that will begin India's multi-format tour in February. This means she will miss the opportunity to be farewelled in her hometown, as the first T20I is the only match of the series to be played in Sydney.
If Healy plays all three ODIs against India (two in Brisbane and then Hobart), the WACA Test will be her 299th and last international match for Australia, just before her 36th birthday.
