2.50 lakh jobs will be created in mobile phone manufacturing sector, production capacity of companies will increase

In the next 12 to 18 months, the surge in mobile phone manufacturing activities is predicted to create up to 2.50 lakh direct and indirect jobs. The government's encouragement of regional manufacturing and the rise in mobile consumers around the world will make this feasible. Along with Indian company Dixon Technology, Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron, the three manufacturing companies under contract with Apple in India, are expanding their manufacturing capacity. These businesses are working quickly to satisfy both domestic and international demand.

Apple is moving its manufacturing operations from China to India in a forceful manner. Under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) programme, the Indian government has created five lakh jobs in this sector in the last three years. To expand manufacturing capacities and woo equipment manufacturers, India has set a target of producing electronic goods worth $300 billion by 2025-26.

Apple has set a target of manufacturing iPhones worth $12 billion in India in 2023-24. This will be about 12% of its construction taking place in the entire world. Recently Google announced to making of its Pixel smartphone in India. This is expected to create jobs on a larger scale.
