Permission has been granted to export 2,000 tonnes of non-basmati white rice to Malawi and Zimbabwe. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) stated that this export will be handled by National Cooperative Export Limited. At the same time, non-basmati white rice exports will be prohibited beginning July 20, 2023, in order to increase domestic supply.

However, on request, some countries are permitted to export based on government permission to meet their food security requirements. India has previously allowed such exports to Nepal, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the Seychelles.

On the other hand, the price of wheat in the country has increased by two percent in the last year. The government will make appropriate policy interventions to bring stability to wheat prices.

For this, a meeting of the committee of ministers was held under the chairmanship of Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. According to the government statement after the meeting, he has instructed the officials to keep a close watch on the prices of wheat. Let us tell you that at present the average price of wheat is Rs 30.99, which was Rs 28.95 per kg a year ago. At the same time, the price of flour has increased from Rs 34.29 to Rs 36.13.
