These days finding stolen or lost smartphones is no less than a miracle in India even after having so advanced technologies and modern facilities. For protection of these stolen phones, Google has now come up with a new feature.

Now Google has made your Android smartphone more secure than before. In case your phone gets stolen, this new "Theft Detection Lock" feature makes sure that all your personal information remains safe and the phone will be useless for the thief. This feature by Google is currently being rolled out for Android smartphone users in the US. It was first spotted on a recently launched smartphone and was reported by Mishaal Rahman on Threads.

Google is reportedly releasing three major features to help users in case of phone theft that are Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock. The new Theft Detection Lock feature uses a machine learning model that can detect when a phone is snatched from the user's hand and how the thief is trying to escape, i.e., either on foot or in a car.

The detected Android smartphone trips into automatic theft detection lock mode. Immediately, the phone gets locked; thus, the thief does not gain any access to the data in the phone. Similar to this is the Offline Device Lock, which becomes triggered after a thief attempts or tries to keep the device offline or disconnected from the Internet for an extended period of time. Using Remote Lock, through either the Find My Device Manager app or via the web, the smartphone user is allowed to remotely lock their device.
