More than four and a half hours was what it took for the rescue team to get to them. The family had four children aged one to four years with them.

The landslide has caused widespread destruction in Wayanad. The tribal family was trapped in a cave deep inside the forest. After receiving the information, Kalpetta Range Forest Officer K. According to the forest officer, this community depends on forest products. They buy rice by selling them in the local market. The officer said that amid heavy rains, slippery and steep rocks had to be climbed. The children were very scared and tired. We gave them whatever we had taken with us to eat. After a lot of persuasion, their father agreed to come with us. We tied the children to our bodies and started descending.

The children were fed and given clothes and shoes at the Attmala office. The children are now safe. They are currently kept in Attmala. On Friday, a picture of an officer carrying a child in his lap went viral on the internet media. On this, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan praised the heroic efforts of the forest officials.
