US Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) President and CEO John Neffer stressed the transformation of the global supply chain of semiconductors. According to him, the global supply chain of semiconductors is undergoing transformation and India will be able to get the maximum benefit from it. John Neffer addressed the Carnegie Global Technology Summit in New Delhi, where he pointed out these aspects. SIA includes global giants such as AMD, Nvidia, and TSMC.

Nefar claimed that following the Corona pandemic, there were numerous weaknesses in the supply of semiconductors from around the globe, and hence there should be diversity and strength in the supply chain. Nefar claimed that India has tremendous potential, particularly when it comes to printed circuit boards (PCB), which happens to be a major part of the production of semiconductors.

India has recently made rapid strides in the field of semiconductor manufacturing. Big Indian groups like Tata, Adani, and L&T are investing in this sector. According to a report by global investment bank Jefferies, India can become a global semiconductor hub due to supportive government policies, cheap production costs, and strong ties with Western countries. Right now the demand for semiconductors is growing very fast in the world and if India takes full advantage of this opportunity, it can become a global leader in this important technology sector.

It is worth noting that India and the US are together increasing technical cooperation in areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, biotechnology, energy and space. For this, a new initiative named 'US India Trust' was started in collaboration with US President Donald Trump during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US this year. The aim of this trust is to further strengthen the relations between the two countries through technology.
