Gujarat Giants, who finished last season, would like to address the shortcomings of their team for the upcoming season in the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction to be held on Saturday, for which they have the most money compared to the other four teams. Gujarat Giants finished fifth last season, while Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finished fourth.
Other franchises will also try to improve their team by auctioning a total of 165 players in the WPL Auction. There will be 104 Indian and 61 foreign players (15 from member countries) in the WPL mini-auction for 30 slots (9 foreign players). There will be 56 capped and 109 uncapped (who have not played any international match) players in the auction.
The second season of WPL is likely to be organized in February-March before the IPL. Two players have been kept in the highest 'reserve price' of Rs 50 lakh, one of which is Diandra Dottin and the other is Australian cricketer Kim Garth. Australian all-rounders Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham played in the inaugural season, whose base price is Rs 40 lakh.
