Paris Olympics silver medalist Neeraj Chopra made a tremendous comeback and won the title of the Pot Invitational Track Tournament held in Potchefstroom, South Africa. In this competition held under the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger Series on Wednesday, Neeraj secured first place in the javelin throw competition by covering a distance of 84.52 meters.

Six athletes took part in the contest, among whom the performance of Neeraj was the best. Yet, he lagged in crossing the honorific distance of 90 meters once more. Following Neeraj, the second position was held by South Africa's Douwe Smit, who registered 82.44 meters. In the tournament, Neeraj and Smit alone managed to cross the distance of 80 meters. The third position went to South Africa's Duncan Robertson, who registered 71.22 meters.

With this victory, Neeraj's confidence has now strengthened for the upcoming Doha Diamond League tournament. The Diamond League is going to start from May 16. It is worth noting that Neeraj had earlier secured second place in the Lausanne Diamond League with a throw of 89.49 meters. In that competition, Anderson Peters of Grenada won the title with a throw of 90.61 meters.
