England gave a sudden blow to India; Chris Woakes will come out to bat on the last day with a broken hand

Star all-rounder of the England cricket team Chris Woakes is set to bat for his team on the final day of the India vs England fifth Test despite his injury. His team-mate Joe Root has confirmed this. The fast bowler had injured his shoulder while fielding in the first innings, following which he did not bowl or bat. But on the fourth day, Woakes was spotted in the England dressing room dressed in his white jersey with a sling and it seemed like he was prepared to come onto the field and bat if the team required him.

After stumps on the fourth day, Root told reporters that Woakes is prepared to put all his strength and bat if required. This has been the kind of series where players have had to risk their lives. Hopefully, it won't reach that extent. But at one point Woakes had to face some throwdowns and he is ready if needed. He is eager to make every possible effort.

Woakes will not be the first player to bat for his team despite injury in this series. Earlier in the India vs England fourth Test at Old Trafford, Rishabh Pant came out to bat despite a fractured leg and scored a half-century. Root admitted that Woakes was in a lot of pain, but inspired by Pant's courage, he will come out on the field and bat.
