Many kinds of apps are being run by the government for the people. In such a situation, information has come to the fore. According to official data, more than 1400 accessibility-related complaints have been registered on the Sugamya Bharat mobile application. This app was launched in 2021, and since then about 75 percent of the cases have been settled.

The app 'Sugamya Bharat' has been designed to empower persons with disabilities and the aging population. The people can report about the accessibility-related problems in terms of public infrastructure, support, and building through this application. Photos can also be uploaded.

This information has come through the Right to Information, i.e., RTI. It has been said that 1441 complaints were registered between the years 2021 to 2024. Out of this, 1081 reports have been forwarded to the concerned departments. Through RTI, it has come out that during 2021 and 20222, 647 complaints were received out of which 567 were disposed of. After this, 391 out of 530 complaints were resolved the next year. Meanwhile, 123 out of 264 complaints were settled during 2023-24.

This platform will be redesigned to make it more functional, as per the plan of the government. The government will take the help of Artificial Intelligence, i.e., AI features for this. According to a senior officer of the Department of Disability Affairs, a fully functional platform will be created for people with disabilities by upgrading the Sugamya Bharat App. It will provide many languages, ​​AI-based chatbots, and tooling interfaces. Along with this, it will also provide a complaint and feedback facility. It will improve this app in order to make the transport environment across the country easier in terms of accessibility. For this, the help of the information and communication technology ecosystem will be availed. The government will go in partnership for the app with NGO Mission Accessibility and Research Institute I-STEM and will develop an app with AI capabilities.

It is estimated that more than 2 percent of its population lives with some kind of disability. To overcome the problems being faced in building plans with regard to the convenience of disabled people, construction of disability will be constructed. The government formally announced that the government would prepare a special course for accessible buildings in collaboration with IIT Kanpur. The course would be provided in 27 other institutes besides IIT. He said since the launch of the app, at the state level, the challenges in resolving the cases are being witnessed. But now it is streamlined.
