RR in IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals captain changed for the fourth time in the season

The rest of the Indian Premier League matches have resumed. For the Rajasthan Royals, their hope to make it to the playoffs was already dashed before the season was halted, but then, when the team emerged against the Punjab Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday, there was euphoria. Sanju Samson reported for the toss as well as performed wicketkeeping. This resulted in this happening for a fourth time during the season, wherein the franchise was forced to swap captaincy.

In the Royals vs Punjab Kings match, Shreyas Iyer, after winning the toss, said that the pitch is bat-friendly and he understands how the wicket behaves here. Shreyas informed that Mitchell Owen, Marco Jansen, and Azmatullah Omarzai have been included as foreign players in his XI today.

Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson said that he also wanted to bowl first. Praising Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Samson said that he has performed very well, so Samson will come down to bat. Samson said that he has come in place of Nitish Rana, and Kwena Mfaka has come in place of Jofra Archer.
