NMC: More than 1.08 lakh students will be admitted to MBBS seats, with an increase of 112 medical colleges for the upcoming academic year

The list of medical colleges now includes 112 new establishments for this year. Admission to MBBS seats in these new colleges will begin in the same academic year 2024–25, according to permission granted by the National Medical Commission (NMC). There are rumours that more than 1.08 lakh MBBS seats will be available for students to apply to this year. Applications are being accepted for additional MBBS seats as well as new medical colleges, according to the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC.

The board decided to approve the admission of 112 new medical colleges for MBBS seats following separate meetings. Additionally, it has been decided to expand the number of MBBS seats in 58 medical colleges. Following the board's decision, NMC sent an email with this information to every college.

A senior member of the board said that recently UGMEB Notification 2023 was issued regarding the establishment of new medical colleges. Under this, applications were invited from institutions on August 18 last year. Apart from new medical colleges, it also included an increase in seats. Among the new medical colleges which have been approved for admission to MBBS courses, a maximum of 18 are established in Uttar Pradesh. These include both government and private medical colleges.
