Aravalli Conservation: Model Village Project Presented at National Conference
The Central Government is committed to conserving the Aravalli Range. Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav stated that under the Aravalli Green Wall Project, greening work has begun on 2.7 million hectares of degraded land spread across Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. He provided this information at a conference on eco-restoration of the Aravalli landscape, which also mentioned the UNCCD target of conserving 26 million hectares of degraded land by 2030.
Despite the controversy surrounding the new definition of the Aravalli Range, the Central Government has reaffirmed its commitment towards its conservation as it is working at a fast pace towards it, as it also happens to be one of the oldest ranges in the world.
Union Forest & Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said that in the Aravalli ranges, thousands of hectares of land have been turned green in the past two to three years.
In addition, there is a campaign initiated as part of the Aravalli Green Wall Project to green 2.7 million hectares of degraded areas of the Aravalli Range, which is distributed over Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
