Lok Sabha Elections: ADG Ravi Gandhi conducted a thorough assessment of the operational challenges in the areas covered by the 112th Battalion, including Bithari Bazaar and Tarali-1 along with riverine areas. Lok Sabha Elections: ADG of BSF Eastern Command visited India-Bangladesh border, took stock of preparations

Ahead of the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in Bengal, Additional Director (ADG) of BSF's Eastern Command Ravi Gandhi visited the India-Bangladesh border in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal and took stock of the preparations. During this, the operational readiness and preparedness of various battalions deployed under the South Bengal Frontier was assessed. During this, he along with South Bengal Frontier IG Ayush Mani Tiwari, IPS visited the Jayantipur Border Outpost area under the jurisdiction of the 5th Battalion. He then visited Gunarmath Border Post, where the Company Commander briefed him about the effective measures taken to tackle border crimes and ensure security. After this, Additional Director Ravi Gandhi visited many other border outposts including Angrel, Dobarpada, Jhaudanga, Kharramath, Old Pipli, New Pipli, Tentulberia under 5th Battalion, BSF and Garjala, Kalanchi under 112th Battalion, BSF. The objective of these inspections was to evaluate operational efficiency and address any challenges faced by the border battalions.

The operational difficulties in the regions that the 112th Battalion covers, such as Bithari Bazaar and Tarali-1 near the riverine areas, were also thoroughly assessed by ADG Ravi Gandhi. Company commanders received instructions on developing strategies that would effectively manage border issues after a discussion on the subject. ADG, Eastern Command gave particular attention to the Hakimpur checkpoint area, where they assessed the difficulties brought about by the close proximity of villages on both sides of the border. There was discussion on how to handle problems brought on by cross-border operations and guarantee thorough security measures. In addition, and as part of the arrangements for the impending Lok Sabha elections, a video conference was conducted with the commanders of the BSF battalions stationed for security.

Instructions were given regarding preparations and security arrangements for the fifth phase of voting. At the end of the tour, Ravi Gandhi visited the headquarters of the South Bengal Frontier at Rajarhat, Kolkata, where IG Ayush Mani Tiwari, IPS, briefed Ravi Gandhi about the operational readiness and strategies in the border areas. During this, BSF ADG Ravi Gandhi appreciated the dedication and professionalism displayed by BSF personnel in protecting the country's borders. He reiterated the Eastern Command's commitment to ensure the integrity and security of India's borders, especially in the challenging areas of the India-Bangladesh border.
