Indian team announced for Hockey Pro League 2023-24, command handed over to Harmanpreet
Hockey India on Thursday announced a 24-member men's hockey team led by Harmanpreet Singh. This team will participate in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023-24 to be held in Antwerp, Belgium, and London, England before the Paris Olympics.
The men's hockey team from Hockey India, captained by Harmanpreet Singh, has 24 players. This team will compete in the 2023–24 FIH Hockey Pro League, which will take place in London, England, and Antwerp, Belgium, just before the Olympics in Paris. Commencing on May 22nd, the Belgian stage will conclude on May 30th. June 1st and June 12th are the dates of the England leg. In both legs, India will play Argentina, Belgium, Germany, and Great Britain twice apiece. On May 22, they will begin their campaign against Argentina. India has 15 points from eight matches, good for third place in the points table right now.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh will command the team while midfielder Hardik Singh has been made the vice-captain. The responsibility of goalkeeping will be on PR Sreejesh and Krishna Bahadur Pathak. On team selection, head coach Craig Fulton said that we have been working hard in camp and have developed an understanding of each other's gameplay. Before the Paris Olympics, we will play against top-quality teams, which will help us progress further.
Meanwhile, captain Harmanpreet Singh said that we are hoping to start the season with the FIH Hockey Pro League in the Olympic year. Where we will play top-quality teams. We have selected a team to give experience to the players. I will get a chance to see some players in competition mode before the Paris Olympics.
