Amid concerns of families regarding the safety of Indian students stranded in Kyrgyzstan, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday requested External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to consider operating special flights to bring back the students.

Reddy said a large number of Telugu students are graduating in medicine in Kyrgyzstan. Earlier, AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi had also called upon Foreign Minister Jaishankar to take necessary steps for the safety of Indian students in Kyrgyzstan.

Union Minister Reddy said in a letter to External Affairs Minister Jaishankar that I have received applications from many panicked parents expressing concern over the safety of children. The concerns of the families have increased further due to the continuous coverage of the situation in Kyrgyzstan by the Telugu media.

Presently a large number of students are living there in hostels and their rooms without electricity and common facilities. When found outside, they are being attacked by local students.

He said that Indian students would like to return home until the tension subsides. It is difficult for them to continue their studies under these circumstances. Telangana BJP president Reddy said some videos and photos attached with the letter show the seriousness of the problem.
