On the strength of Pratika Rawal's half-century and then Sneh Rana's five wickets, that Indian women beat South Africa by 15 runs in the second tri-series match played in Sri Lanka. Batting first, Indian women amassed 276 runs in 50 overs, having lost six wickets. South Africa was defeated in that match by being bowled out on 261 runs in 49.1 overs.

For South Africa, Tanjim Brits, an opening batswoman, produced a superb innings and a century. But her century was in vain. Her innings of 109 runs, assisted by 13 fours and three sixes on 107 balls, was unable to win her team.

South Africa got a good start. Laura Wolpardts started the innings with Tanjim and added 140 runs for the first wicket. Laura was out after scoring 43 runs. She was dismissed by Deepti Sharma. After this, Rana started showing her flair. She sent Lara Goodall to the pavilion. Meanwhile, Tanjim retired hurt at a total score of 170. She came to bat later, but Rana ended her innings.

Sune Luus could score only 28, Chloe Tryon 18, and Anneri Durkan 30 runs. After this, there was a flurry of wickets, and the South African team collapsed four balls earlier. Rana took five wickets for India. Arundhati Reddy, Sri Charani and Deepti got one wicket each.

Before the bowlers of Team India, the batsmen also performed brilliantly. Pratika made a great partnership with Smriti Mandhana for the first wicket. Both added 83 runs for the first wicket. Mandhana was dismissed after scoring 36 runs in 54 balls. Harleen Deol, who came after her, contributed 29 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues played innings of 41-41 runs. Richa Ghosh finally scored 24 runs in 14 balls which included three fours and a six.
