IASV Triveni: Tri-Service women's team left for Seychelles, started 55 days sea voyage from Mumbai
IASV Triveni: In a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense, it was said that the team will travel about 4,000 nautical miles from Mumbai to Seychelles and then back to Mumbai. This expedition reflects the power of Nari Shakti and is a big step towards promoting gender equality in maritime areas.

On Monday, a tri-service crew of 12 Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force women officers embarked on a 55-day long sea journey beginning from Mumbai to Seychelles. The adventurous voyage is being undertaken on board the Indian Armed Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni. Lieutenant General A.K. Ramesh, Commandant, College of Military Engineering (CME) from the Indian Naval Watermanship Training Center at Colaba, Mumbai, flagged off this historic voyage.
This journey is being considered as a preparation for a much larger global sailing expedition that will be organized in 2026. The 12 women officers who form this crew have been chosen from 41 volunteers. All of them have received intensive sea sailing training for the past two years.
These women officers have undertaken many small and big practice trips, which included day and night sea voyages. They had to face challenges like bad weather, technical problems of the boat, and physical fatigue many times, but they overcame them with courage and determination every time.
The journey is symbolic of the growing role of women in the Indian Armed Forces. It also goes as a tribute to the brilliant female warriors of India such as Rani Velu Nachiyar, Rani Durgavati, and Rani Lakshmibai whose strength continues to inspire the nation.
This historic expedition will reach a culmination on 30th May, as the team will return to Mumbai successfully, and a grand flag-in ceremony will be hosted. This expedition is a wonderful example of courage, determination, and dedication of the daughters of the country, which proves that women are not behind in any field - be it land, sky, or water.
